Keeping up the tension: new Elast belts

Light commercial vehicles from the Volkswagen Group are an extremely popular choice for everything from camper and delivery vans to mobile offices. Models such as the Transporter, Multivan, California and MAN TGE frequently travel long distances or are busy clocking up the miles in delivery operations, so they tend to come into the workshop for belt replacement relatively soon after launch. 

To ensure workshop mechanics can rely on OE quality when carrying out this work, we are now adding two new Elast belts to our range: the 6PK860 Elast and 6PK868 Elast multi V-belts. Together, they cover over 600,000 vehicle applications on the European market. 

Fitting tip
Elast belts can be awkward to fit – things can get very tricky, particularly in cramped engine bays. Our UNI TOOL ELAST is a real help here: this high-quality universal tool makes it much easier to fit and remove elastic multi V-belts. We have made this video to show how easy it is to use the tool. 

Tip: the correct length
Two values are used for indicating the length of an elastic multi V-belt: the production length (how long the belt is in the packaging) and the operational length (the length of the belt once it has been fitted). The latter value is naturally always a little larger. When selecting a suitable belt you can turn to our PIC for assistance, where you will find all the different model allocations.
