Get more out of your engine: the flushing system in Tool Box W04

Is it worth investing in a system for flushing the cooling system?

09.04.2024

The manufacturers of many newer engines, like the EA288 and EA288 evo units for example, stipulate that the cooling system must be flushed after replacing parts such as the heat exchanger, water pump or charge air cooler. The reason for this is that modern cooling systems have a very intricate design and need to be flushed thoroughly to clean them properly. Only then will the repair job have been completed in accordance with OEM specifications, ensuring effective protection against corrosion. The problem is that, in the past, only OEM workshops had the necessary flushing equipment.

The flushing system contained in Tool Box W04 now provides independent workshops with a compact, high-quality solution too. And it’s one that is suitable for a multitude of vehicles, as the aforementioned EA288 and EA288 evo units can be found under the hood of highly popular models such as the Golf VI and VII, along with many Audi, Skoda and Seat cars, plus commercial vehicles like the Caddy and Crafter. However, the universal Tool Box W04 is also ideal for all other models that are coming to the end of their warranty – making it a worthwhile investment for any workshop. This is because workshops without the appropriate flushing equipment would have to turn down repair jobs of this type. As a result, they could easily lose out on hundreds of euros of revenue every month. Or to look at it another way: purchasing a suitable flushing system generally pays for itself after it has been used just twice for repair work.

In actual fact, workshops are likely to get a return on their investment even sooner, as it is still worth flushing the cooling system even if the manufacturer’s instructions don’t explicitly require it. This is the case for older or previously owned cars in particular. The previous owner might have topped up the system with hard water instead of distilled water, for instance. Or when fitting the water pump, their choice of workshop used sealing paste that has started to contaminate the coolant. Workshops can now put an end to the associated risks once and for all with Tool Box W04, thereby protecting themselves from possible claims for compensation. Peace of mind of this sort is almost priceless.
