Good Vibrations: Suspension Components Added to the Range

We have good news to report. Our surveys have shown that workshop mechanics also want to enjoy Continental’s high and dependable levels of quality for suspension and steering parts, just as they already do for other components. So we have now added wishbone bushings and ball joints to our product range. All the parts offer excellent fit and durability, allowing repair jobs to be carried out safely and to a reliably high standard.

Wishbone bushings and ball joints soak up vibrations, making driving safe and comfortable. The key here is an optimal bond of rubber and metal – and that has been Continental’s core expertise for decades now. Examples of the company’s products in this area include air spring systems and anti-vibration elements for rail vehicles, and mounts for machines weighing several metric tons. And now we have carried this expertise over into the automotive aftermarket. As far as suspension components are concerned, 310 products types in the wishbone bushing and ball joint product groups are always in stock. This allows fitters to cover around 70% of applications in the current European vehicle parc – in cars ranging from treasured recent classics to the Tesla Model S and other modern BEVs. Needless to say, we are constantly adding to the range of items available.

Wishbone bushings provide the elastic connection between a vehicle’s suspension and its body. They absorb vibrations from the road and drive units, and in so doing reduce noise and improve steering behavior and driving stability – especially on poor road surfaces and for heavier vehicles. Ball joints help the driver to keep the vehicle on course. As a moving element, protected by a rubber bellow, they enable three-dimensional rotation and movement of the wheels, while absorbing radial and axial loads.
